Go2Cue runs your show on your own network. Your cues, messages, notes, recordings, station names and settings stay on your own computers, iPhones, iPads and station boxes: none of it is sent to us. This page lists the little that is.
Two things leave your computer only when you turn them on. Tidy with Claude: the words of each note go through our license service to Anthropic, which tidies them and sends them back. We keep only a count of notes tidied, never their words; Anthropic doesn't use them to train its models; and the recording itself never leaves your computer. Importing a script: the script goes once to Anthropic, with your own Anthropic key, to find its acts, scenes, pages and characters; Go2Cue keeps no copy, and each page's words stay on your computer.
We never sell, rent, trade or give your information to anyone.
What we hold, and why
| What | When | Why |
|---|---|---|
| Your email, the theatre or company name you give, what you bought | A purchase or rental | To send your license, sign you in to your account, and handle updates, upgrades and refunds |
| The license key, a computer id, the app version, the date | Activating, and the hub's check at launch and twice a day when online | To tie a license to its two computers and tell whether it is still good. The computer id is a one-way scramble of the operating system's id: it does not name you or the computer. |
| Your email | Joining the launch list on go2cue.com, or making a Go2Cue account before launch | To email you once, when Go2Cue goes on sale; only after you open the link we send. Every email has a link to leave the list, and so does your account page. |
| Your email, and each station box's id and public key | Making a Go2Cue account, signing in the app, setting up a box | To sign you in, and to send each of your boxes its firmware |
| The email and computer ids of a refunded license | A refund or chargeback | So a license can be refunded once: another one won't activate on the same computers or email |
| Name, school, school email, and the staff-page link you give | An education discount request | To check you qualify and send the discount |
| Your IP address and the request, in our host's logs | Any visit to the website or license service | To keep the service running and stop abuse |
Card and bank details go to Paddle, never to us. The app has no advertising, tracking or analytics.
Who else handles it
- Paddle: payments, tax, invoices and refunds (they are the Merchant of Record).
- Cloudflare: hosts the website and the license service and its database.
- Resend: sends our emails (licenses, sign-in links, education codes, the launch list).
- Anthropic: tidies the words of your notes with Claude, only when you turn tidying on.
We never sell, rent, trade or give away your information. The companies above see only what they need to do that job for us, and no one else gets it unless the law requires it.
Google Sheets, Google Drive, Gmail and Google Calendar
Some parts of Go2Cue can work with your own Google account, only if you sign in to it from the app. The Go2Cue app on that computer then talks to Google directly. None of it passes through our servers, and we never see your Google account, its sign-in, or your files.
- What the app may open: only the files you choose in Google's file picker and the files Go2Cue itself made in your Google Drive (Google's
drive.filepermission), plus your email address, to show who is signed in. It can't see the rest of your Google Drive. - Crew cue lists: if you link a show to a cue sheet in Google Sheets, the app reads the cue numbers, descriptions and departments to make the crew's cue lists on your show network. It never changes that sheet.
- Rehearsal notes: when you press Send to Google Sheet, the app writes the notes you chose to send into a Google Sheet in your Google Drive: a tab of its own in your show's sheet, or a new sheet. The notes are then in that sheet like any other file of yours. The app changes only the notes tabs it made; it never changes or removes your other tabs.
- Cast list: if your show's sheet has a Cast tab, the app reads the actors' names, characters and email addresses from it, to know which notes are for which actor and where to send them. It never changes that tab.
- Gmail, for actor notes: only if you press Connect Gmail, the app asks Google for permission to send email from your account (Google's
gmail.sendpermission). It then sends only the actor notes emails you press Send for, each to the address in your cast list, from that computer straight to Google. It can't read, search, change or delete your mail, and it keeps no copy; the emails it sent are in your Gmail's Sent mail like any other. - Production calendar: only if you press Make it in Google Calendar, the app asks Google for permission to make calendars and change the events on the calendars it made (Google's
calendar.app.createdpermission). It makes one calendar for your show and puts the rehearsal blocks of your call sheet on it: the time, what's being worked, where, and who's called. It can't see or change your other calendars or their events, and it invites no one; you share the calendar with your company in Google Calendar. - Video review: when you choose to put a rehearsal on Google Drive, the app uploads those videos, with their cues and notes, to your Google Drive, and later opens them from there. It opens only rehearsals that Go2Cue put there.
- Who sees them: the sheets and videos are your files, in your Google Drive. They are shared only with the people you share them with, using Google's own sharing.
- Where it's kept: on that computer only: the sign-in (encrypted for your Windows account on Windows), the names and ids of the sheets and files, the cue lists made from a sheet, and the cast list. A show file you save holds a sheet's name and id, never the sign-in.
- Stopping it: Sign out in the app's Show setup, which also ends Go2Cue's access at Google, or remove Go2Cue at myaccount.google.com/permissions. Signing out leaves the sheets and videos already in your Google Drive, the production calendar in your Google Calendar, and the emails in your Sent mail, where they are, for you to keep or delete.
Go2Cue's use and transfer of information received from Google APIs to any other app will adhere to the Google API Services User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements. We don't use it for advertising, don't sell it, and no person at Go2Cue reads it.
The microphone
Go2Cue uses a microphone only for what you turn on, and what it hears stays on your own computers, iPhones, iPads and show network. None of it is sent to us or to anyone else.
- Coms: voice goes from one Go2Cue device to another over your show network, live. It is not recorded or kept.
- Spoken notes: while you hold the note key, the app records you and turns the speech into text on that computer, with no internet. The recording is deleted as soon as its words are out; only the text note is kept.
- Video sync (listening): if you turn listening on, the stage manager's computer keeps a signature of how the sound's pitch bands rise and fall, to line rehearsal videos up later. It never records or keeps the sound itself.
Your computer, iPhone or iPad asks your permission before Go2Cue can use its microphone, and you can take that permission back in its settings at any time.
How long we keep it
- Purchase and license records: as long as the license exists, plus seven years for tax records.
- Education requests: one year after the decision, then deleted, except a note that the address had a discount that year.
- Sign-in links expire after an hour; email codes after an hour.
Your choices
You can ask to see, correct or delete what we hold about you by writing to privacy@go2cue.com. Deleting your account ends license sign-in and moving a license between computers; a license already on a computer keeps working offline. If you are in the EU, the UK or California, you have the rights your law gives you, and you can complain to your data protection authority.
Children
Go2Cue is sold to theatres, schools and adults. We don't knowingly collect information from children under 13. Students in a school production use crew stations, which send nothing to us.
